Puffins, Cliffs & Submarines – The Cliffs of Moher MTB Tour
Join us on our Puffins, Cliffs & Submarines tour, and visit the world famous Cliffs of Moher as well as the legendary Hag’s Head and finish your day with cycle into the village of Liscannor, home to John Holland - the inventor of the submarine!
We will meet you bright and early in Doolin, where we will get you fitted for your bike, your helmet and with knee and elbow pads (if you wish!). Once you take a few laps around and are comfortable on your bike, we head through the village and up towards the start of the Cliffs – taking in Doonagore Castle and the views from the hill – overlooking Crab Island, the Aran Islands and over to County Galway and Mayo to the North.
Up and up we climb, cycling along a quiet back road before heading onwards to the Visitor Centre at the Cliffs of Moher. Here we park the bikes, and have a chance to visit the world famous views as well as the award winning Visitor’s Centre. Stroll up to O’Brien’s Tower and look down the 214 metre drop to the sea and watch the puffins, gannets, razorbills, guillemots and the occasional peregrine falcons, swoop and ride the updrafts from the cliffs faces below.
Back on the bikes, we head south towards Hag’s Head. Here we turn off the main road and venture past quarries that still extract the world renowned Liscannor Stone, which can be found on the streets, patios and buildings all around the world!
Once we reach the Napoleonic tower at Hag’s Head, we stop for lunch and to discover the folklore surrounding the naming of Hag’s Head and the beautiful scenery that can be seen from this amazing point.
After lunch, we venture downhill towards Cancregga Bay – a horseshoe shaped cliff where surfers are often seen riding waves below. We continue on toward Clahane, a well known beauty and swimming spot along the coastline close to Liscannor.
Take a spin into the village of Liscannor, home to John Holland, the world famous inventor of the submarine!
A great way to visit some famous sites, see some famous puffins, and take in the stunning Cliffs of Moher!
